Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan

August 17, 2008 from 2am at Cubao, QC. when I'm about to take a 5 hours trip going to Our Lady of Manaoag, Pangasinan and for me to attend the sunday mass.

From Five star Bus bounding to Dagupan and a shuttle van going to Manaoag Church I cannot keep my enthusiasm to express out and to reached the Church.
So I really won't miss the every moment to take a pictures while waiting to my friend's come.
Anyway the Church of Our Lady of Manaoag is one of the religious churches in the province of Pangasinan, located in the town of Manaoag, purportedly has a long history of miraculous and pious events that are duplicated in the murals all over the church. This is done so that the events will never be forgotten. Devotees, coming from all over the globe, have various reasons for visiting the place among of which are pleads for health restoration, good voyage, or better fate.

Swarms of people fill the place during Sundays and religious occasions such as the Virgin Mary’s birthday, Holy Week, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Inside the church, there is an archaic ambiance with the old bricks and ancient architecture. Pews are lined up from all sides and at the very center is the altar. In the highest portion of the altar is where the Lady of Manaoag majestically stands.

Kadayawan Festival in Davao!

One of the Best beautiful and astonishing festival here in the Philippines is to witness the Kadayawan Festival in Davao.
HE KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL IS DAVAO'S BIGGEST, MOST vibrant cultural festival. Celebrated every third week of August, it is a tribute to Mindanao's indigenous tribes and is a celebration of their bountiful blessings.

The festival drew its name from the Dabawenyo word madayaw, which, means "good." It has two main components: the Lumadnong Kasaulogan, which showcases the culture and arts of the indigenous peoples in Davao, and the Subay sa Lumadnong Kagikan, which features the impact of the indigenous culture on contemporary artists, performances, and communities.

This year's theme, "Flourishing Indigenous Heritage, Protecting Ancestral Nations," is an expression of the Dabawenyos' belief that the lives, culture, and traditions of the indigenous tribes in the region are inextricably linked to their own. For this reason, they are taking the occasion to renew their commitment to protect the ancestral lands and way of life of these tribes.
Billed as "Kadayawan sa Davao 2008," this year's week long revelry will feature lndak lndak sa Kadalanan, a flamboyant street dancing competition. Garbed in colorful tribal costumes, the participants spread out into the streets and perform folklore dances to the beat of drums and bugle music. A substantial grand prize is given to the best performers.
The other highlights of the festival are the
Floral Float Parade
, a spectacular display of indigenous materials and the region's wealth of flora and fruits;
Hiyas ng Kadayawan
, a beauty pageant open to the ten major tribes of Davao; an agro-industrial trade fair; the Davao river festival; and many more art, cultural, and musical

activities.

hhhmmm.... really exciting right??.. well I'm sure this coming 3rd week of August2008 I believe that it is more surprising year by year.

So see you soon at Davao because for now hhmm... so sorry to me that I haven't schedule of trip to Davao.. anyway posting this entry is makes me that I'm witnessing now this event.

And now I'm giving credits to Jojie Alcantara for the article in Travel+Lifestyle August2008 and for Kadayawan 2007 by Mark Wendell. Thanks!!! ;-)

A short trip to IloIlo!#*

IloIlo City, is the gateway of the Western Visayas Region. The province comprises the southeastern part of Panay Island.

As being one of the country's foremost centers of culture, industry and trade August 7, 2008 finally I landed to this province by just a one-day trip opportunity only and fortunately even a short time I still enjoyed and left smile to this province.

Iloilo is also known in delicacies like Biscocho - a tasty toasted bread and you could buy it at Deco's pasalubong shop where just located beside the SM Delgados. Anyway Deco's is known restaurant of serving a Batchoy food (a bowl of clear soup of noodles topped with pork meat and liver called batchoy) which is originate here since 1938 then later on they called it La Paz Batchoy.. Wow… yum yum…

The biggest event in IloIlo City was the Dinagyang Festival - a local mardigras or Ati-atihan. Held every January in honor of the Infant Jesus, the festival is a major tourist attraction. Another event Iloilo is known for is the Paraw Regatta. Which is participated in by local and foreign sportsmen.

HHhhm…. So that's it for now because I'm not yet finish for visitting this province Lol! & next time hopefully I could go and do Island hopping at Guimarras.

for more info. of IloIlo just visit: http://www.asiatravel.com/iloinfo.html
