Visiting Guimaras Island!

Swimming in a white sand beach, island hopping, snorkeling, unwinding with fresh air and while eating a sweet mangoes, are just only the main activity that you could do in the Mangoes Capital of the Philippines, which is the Island of Guimaras.

Raymen Beach resort, October 22-23, 2008 is the day that I have been fortunate to travel in the Guimaras Island. The place was very good for us to take the vacation and for relaxing moment.

Taking photos of the different scenery of the beach is what makes me my main activity of staying into Guimaras Island. My experience here in the island is really amazing and I already stocked in my memory. Lol!
Because of native way of living; first from traveling going to the resort was truly anticipating especially while in a riding into multicab jeepney. I experience that we like a sardines there. Hehehe.. Second while at the resort they is a fisherman selling their fresh captured fish and they sell it in a low price. And third of course tasting sweet Mangoes is what makes me complement.
I'm sure you'll not be able to think twice because if you are concerning of about the budget for visiting Guimaras, hhhmmm..I think that wouldn't be a problem because the resort is allowing for customers to bring their own food.

Getting there in Guimaras Island is very easy, from Iloilo city there is a pier pump boat terminal which will bring you for 15minutes ride to the pier of Jordan - a town in Guimaras; fare rate is only 13 pesos, at pier there are multicab jeepneys, that bonding in Nueva Valencia, so you'll just tell to the conductor or driver to drop you in Crossing Abulihan; fare rate is 30 pesos with 40 minutes traveling time. And after dropping you at Crossing Abulihan there are a lot of Habal-habal (a motorcyle rides) and tell them that you will go to Raymen's beach resort.

Masskara Festival in Bacolod City

As one of the best and major festival here in the Philippines, during the month of October Bacolod province is celebrating each year the Masskara Festival.

The word MassKara has a double meaning. First, it is a fusion of the English word "mass" or many and "kara", the Spanish word for "face." MassKara then becomes a "mass of faces," and these faces have to be smiling to project Bacolod already known in the late 70's as the City of Smiles.

Because of most applause got during a Masskara dance they eventually perform in other International sports event.
And in addition MassKara is not history nor is it anchored on any historical, religious or cultural event. Artistic, yes. MassKara is simply his story, that is the Bacoleno as a human being whose innate capacity for goodness, happiness and beauty is expressed in the sights, sounds, color and rhythm of a people celebrating the might and bounty of a Great Creator.

Upon visitting the City of Smiles just visit the Pasalubong store of Bong-Bong's which you can buy the best delicacies of Bacolod like Piaya (Pie) and other Pinoy foods.

Yeah! I already been to Bacolod last June2008 but unfortunately I accidentally deleted all my photos to be post here in my blogs. So that's why I have to borrowed and be thankful for those photos of this people

Lanzones Festival at Camiguin Island!

One of my very interest provinces that I wished to visit is this Island of Camiguin.

Camiguin Islands is a small island in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. It is a holiday island. There are lots of very cool places in this island. White sands beaches, hot/cold springs, sunken cemetery and a lot of beautiful places. And during third week of October this island is celebrating the Lanzones Festival, which what makes the special for this event is the grand parade of Lanzones fruit with street dancing and beauty pageants.

Lanzones (Lansium domesticum Corr.) is a tropical fruit from they are an exceedingly sweet and slightly sour taste. But beware, one must be careful not to bite into the bitter seed! Export potential is limited because the fruit perishes easily after ripening and the skin exudes milky latex which is messy to the hands and lips. But they said that the sweetest Lanzones only can found in the island of Camiguin. Note the swarm of ants partaking of the sugary nectar. That's how sweet this fruit is!

Lanzones Fruit
Most of the people of Camiguin considered their most income came from Lanzones, and now they are exporting the fruit to keep their annual festival going.

I’m sure that every year the celebration will be come more and more extravagant and full of exciting. So that’s why Island of Camiguin was already in my To travel list someday.

How to get there:

From Cagayan de Oro Airport, take a taxi and proceed to the bus terminal located at Agora for Balingoan, which is approximately 88kms. from Cagayan de Oro. In Balingoan, take a ferry boat bound for Camiguin Island. The traveler enters Benoni Wharf of Mahinog or Guinsiliban which is 17 kms. from the Capital town of Mambajao.

Native in Province!

Province, province, province! I really love to go in a province because experiencing the true nature was really amazing. And as my journeys begin in traveling discovery and learning new things is those what’s makes me give a reason to love my work more.

By this time though of keep coming back I am still not sure for all of things that I discovered in every province I went. And one of this is eating foods, which is what make us more native and original.

At Brgy. Puerto, Cagayan De Oro City. There was a restaurant there called Kambingan, who serves native foods to the customer. I’m not eating Kambing (Goat) so that’s why I ordered Lomi (a soup of noodles food) instead Kambing recipe.
Lomi is decidedly comfort food. Usually made of thick or flat wheat noodles, the salty/sweetish stock is thickened with corn starch. Other ingredients are pork meat, pork liver, scored squid, cabbage, carrots, crunchy snow peas, and egg.

Tasting a Lomi soup at Kambingan is for me has a very nice taste I think that was because of putting some native ingredients like chicken.
Anyway another things that I really loved in CDO are this Pastel of Vjandep from the island of Camiguin and while on my way to Vjandep bakery hmmm…. I take some photos of local Jeepney vehicle, which I think really unique for CDO.
So I hope that all of you could visit some of Provinces here in Philippines.. :D
